The chat polymer is acquired from the Greek words πολύ- - poly- acceptation "many"; and μέρος - meros acceptation "part". The appellation was coined in 1833 by Jöns Jacob Berzelius, although his analogue of a polymer was absolutely altered from the avant-garde definition.
